Funazumi Express 株式会社The company behind FNEXS JDM
A licensed, independent car exporter based in Kawasaki, Japan. We buy from Japanese auctions and dealers for buyers worldwide, with open-book pricing on every car.
An independent exporter built on one value.
FNEXS JDM is the export brand of Funazumi Express 株式会社, a licensed, founder-run car exporter in Japan. We buy from Japanese auctions and dealers for buyers worldwide, and we show you the real price of every car.
"My one and only core value is INTEGRITY."
Core values
I started this business with a single guiding principle. I don't subscribe to the long list of generic core values many companies promote, often without living up to them. After years in this industry, I've seen too many empty promises, misleading practices and unnecessary markups.
As entrepreneurs and B2B partners, we should support each other with transparency and sincerity. That's why my one and only core value is INTEGRITY.
Why I went independent
What makes me different from other exporters is that I'm independent. I work for myself, so there's no boss telling me to mark everything up. Many companies add extra charges for things like inland shipping, or even misreport auction results, just to increase profits.
Before going independent, I worked for two export companies. The constant pressure to raise prices didn't fit my values or the way I wanted to do business.
How I started
It all started with sending everyday items to friends and colleagues in Thailand: used parts, toys and other small things. The shipments grew gradually from small to large, until I eventually started exporting cars. The first car I shipped was actually a Porsche.
I've always been passionate about the automotive industry, and as the work grew, I became increasingly recognized in Japan and abroad.
Meeting people
What I love about this business is that I'm constantly meeting new people, discovering new cars and experiencing something different every day. I have to stay on top of my work and keep up with a market that changes every year.

New-vehicle sourcing for Thai buyers, where used-car imports are not permitted.
JDM parts & wheels

From Japan to your driveway, wherever that is.
Every route starts at a Japanese auction or dealer and ends with your car at your nearest port, shipped by RoRo or container.
We ship Japanese used cars and JDM vehicles from Japan to buyers around the world, handling everything from auction sourcing to export documentation and ocean freight. Whether you're planning to import a car from Japan to the USA under the 25-year rule, bring a JDM car into Canada once it clears the 15-year rule, register a Japanese import in the UK, ship to the Netherlands or France, export to Cambodia or Taiwan, or source a new car for Thailand, we manage the Japan side: auction bidding, dealer purchase, export certification, and port handling by RoRo or container.
Import rules by country.
A quick overview for planning. Choose your country to see the age rules, taxes and approval steps, or read the full import guide for documents and step-by-step instructions.
Importing a car from Japan to the United States
Main ports: Los Angeles · Tacoma · New York · BaltimoreThe US applies the 25-year rule: once a vehicle is 25 years old, counted from its actual month and year of manufacture rather than its model year, it is exempt from Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) and can be imported without a Registered Importer. A separate EPA emissions exemption applies at 21 years. Importing a car younger than 25 years generally isn't practical for an individual buyer.
Duty on an eligible passenger car is typically 2.5%, but US tariff rules have changed repeatedly in recent years, so confirm the current landed cost with a customs broker. Some states restrict registration of kei trucks and vans.
Importing a car from Japan to Canada
Main ports: Vancouver · HalifaxCanada's federal threshold is 15 years from the vehicle's manufacture date, measured to the month. After that, the car is exempt from Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and the Registrar of Imported Vehicles (RIV) program.
Quebec and Prince Edward Island generally require right-hand-drive vehicles to be 25 years old before road registration. Expect a customs duty of around 6.1% (Japan-origin vehicles may qualify for a reduced or zero rate under CPTPP with the right paperwork), plus 5% GST and provincial tax.
Importing a car from Japan to the United Kingdom
Main ports: SouthamptonThe UK has no minimum age for importing a Japanese vehicle. Cars under 10 years old must pass an Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA) test before DVLA registration; cars over 10 years old only need a standard MOT. You must notify HMRC through the NOVA service within 14 days of arrival.
Import VAT and duty apply, although the UK–Japan trade agreement has been phasing duty on qualifying Japanese-made passenger cars toward 0%. The UK drives on the left, so right-hand-drive JDM cars suit UK roads.
Importing a car from Japan to the Netherlands
Main ports: RotterdamAs an EU country, the Netherlands requires a vehicle to meet EU type approval before registration, because Japanese-spec cars aren't built to EU approval from the factory. In practice this usually means an individual approval inspection through the RDW, plus adjustments such as headlamps suited to right-hand traffic.
Import duty and 21% VAT apply for a vehicle sourced from outside the EU, and BPM registration tax may also apply.
Importing a car from Japan to France
Main ports: Le HavreFrance follows the same EU logic: a non-EU-spec Japanese vehicle needs an approval process through DREAL before it can receive a French registration certificate (carte grise). A technical inspection (contrôle technique) is required if the car is more than four years old.
Import duty and 20% VAT apply for vehicles sourced from outside the EU.
Importing a car from Japan to Thailand
Main ports: Bangkok · Laem ChabangThailand only allows the import of new vehicles; used passenger cars generally can't be imported for personal use. We source and export new cars from Japan to Thailand, typically through Laem Chabang or Bangkok port.
Importing a car from Japan to Cambodia
Main ports: Phnom PenhCambodia is an active destination for Japanese vehicles. We handle all export documentation on our side, but registration and duty requirements vary, so contact us to confirm the current rules for the specific vehicle before you buy.
Importing a car from Japan to Taiwan
Main ports: Keelung · Taichung · KaohsiungTaiwan drives on the right, and import approval and inspection rules apply to vehicles from Japan. Common entry ports are Keelung, Taichung and Kaohsiung. Please confirm the current registration and duty requirements with us before purchase.
This section is a general summary for planning purposes, not legal or customs advice, and rules can change without notice. Always verify current requirements with a licensed customs broker or your local vehicle registration authority before committing to a purchase.
